Second stop in the international promotional tour: Lago Maggiore Marathon Sport Expo

After the remarkable experiences we enjoyed and shared at the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, we set off for Italy and landed last weekend at the marathon with the most panoramic route in Italy – Lago Maggiore Marathon. This very well organized event, coordinated by Paolo Ottone, is a great inspiration to us.

Our team’s participation in international expos is part of an extensive, integrated plan meant to enable us to improve our Brasov event as much as we can and to attract as many foreign participants as possible. We are not promoting ‘some marathon in a random corner of the world’, but the marathon which brings you into the very heart of Transylvania, which imbues you with Romania’s fun, gastronomic, cultural, historical and civic spirit. That is why we have made the Explore! Eat & drink! Relax & have fun! Run! concept our focal point.

Once more, our stand rose to the occasion. And it’s not just us blowing our own horn :). The proof lies with the over 1000 people who stopped to visit us in Italy, at Lago Maggiore. We talked to a few hundred of them, who were curious to learn more about Romania and Brasov. We gave them leaflets and flyers.  Dracula was the indisputable star of the stand. He barely managed to comply with all the requests for photographs.

The photo booth made it possible to capture colourful moments of great cheer. Our Latin spirit, aided by the funny props, made for the best memories. That’s what happens when Romania’s most panoramic road marathon meets the marathon with the most panoramic course in Italy 🙂

We would like to thank our colleagues from the other expo stands for having ‘heroically resisted’… Radu Restivan’s description of Romania’s delicious food (‘the Romanian traditional mamaliiiga and the homemade cheese’). The spot ran on our stand’s TV non-stop, so we are certain that the word ‘MURATURI’ (pickled vegetables) will not be forgotten any time soon 😀

Our stand also offered visitors the possibility to taste a few traditional drinks (afinata, caisata, visinata and tuica (traditional Romanian spirits) were very popular). As for the ‘mamaliga’ (polenta), cheese and ‘muraturi’ (pickles), they will have to come to Romania and discover them for themselves.

And, in order to get the full experience, we didn’t let people do all that tasting without working for it’. First we had them run on a Technogym supertreadmill, while watching video projections of the marathon route or Brasov city in general. We also tuned them into the city’s atmosphere with the aid of VR glasses, which featured a few 3D frames from the VR Gallery.

The icing on this expo’s cake was the superraffle surprise, which participants could sign up for either on the spot or online. This week we are going to announce the winners of the 5 marathon invitations, 5 half marathon invitations, the TYR rucksack and the Polar V800 sports watch.
